I don't know. I've got to show some love for Wake. It's difficult to give them a #2 and have Duke as #1 when the Decs are undefeated. They beat another undefeated team this past weekend. It's tough to say they shouldn't be #1.
But Duke hasn't exactly been playing cupcake teams either. G-Town was a top 15 team and we beat Purdue (#9 at the time) and Xaiver (#7).

You have to give consideration to Duke for the #1 spot. I think the polls have Wake #1 right now. There is only one poll that counts.
It's still January, so the polls are just for conversation at the moment.
But to be honest, I would offer a more confident opinion if I were feeling better about Duke's play. I think we're a little over ranked right now.
There are a bunch of teams who could win it all this year. There really is no clear cut favorite, no matter what the media claims may be. Duke has to be included in this group.
As far as the polls go at this point in the season, you can't give Duke the #1 spot over an undefeated WF. Until WF loses, they deserve to be #1.
If we beat Maryland Saturday then yes. But ya know how those games go with the Terps go.

Duke will come to W-S on Wednesday with a target on their back, regardless.
But I really don't think Duke is playing like a #1 team at this time... so being ranked #1 will just give the announcers something to talk about throughout the game, but means little.
Winning the games they need to win. Congrats.

'79, I said the same thing about the bullseye when I saw the rankings. I seem to remember Florida not being ranked until mid-January(?) and then taking home the prize. Then they turned around and did it again.
as for Wake I think they're playing lights out. All teams have an off night but those guys are good. It's still January but a #1 ranking is good for the kids and their mind set...hopefully.
Regardless, the ACC is doing WELL.

Be happy we are on top again. It's been a few years. We got spoiled with always being ranked #1. Now we've fought our way back on top. This is not a worthless ranking like it would be if it was the beginning of December. We are almost half way through the ACC.
This is a good thing. Start celebrating!
I'd prefer to have the #1 ranking on April 13, 2009.
I respect Wojo's enthusiasm.
But with a big game on tap for tonight, I'm more focused on how the team plays than being ranked #1.
Let none of us forget last season's game in W-S; Duke was ranked #2 and lost by 13 points.
And not to play the role of Gary Williams, but I hope the box score of tonight's game doesn't show as many players for us with 5 fouls.
