i've been stocking up my gear getting ready for the summer, but i've got the fishing bug big time right now. I was wondering if it would even be with going out to Lake Norman, especially with it being so low right now.
If so, any recommendations on bait?
If I remember correctly, up near the rusty rudder there is a cove with the water warmed by the power plant. Find it and you should be good to go.
We've got a power plant lake down here that is much smaller and much more warmed. They've been slaying the bass. Of course the water is 78 deg. Don't remember what I'v heard about bait.
totally forgot about the warmer water in the northern part of the lake. i might put a boat in the water and try it out.
Most of the big bass I have caught have been in February and March. Pick a warm day and look for areas that have been warmed by the sun.
Bones!
Tell Heelz (Tarminator) he can comeback now. Not much traffic over here.
How are you and your brother? Is he still married?
it is unfortunate that february is completely planned out already. i think i have one free weekend in march and i will give it a go.
You'll thank me one day

All's well BPP. Bro is still married. I went hunting with Heelz this past fall. He's hasn't changed a bit.
El Duke, how do you fish those jigs? Cast or Pitch&Flip?
I have a handful of jigs but have never learned the proper technique.
I cast them like like I fish a texas rigged worm and work it just a bit slower. I use Zoom trailers with them and fish it tight to structure or in creek channels. It has landed many a fine fish for me in the early part of the year..including my largest.
Told ya bout that jig. I landed a 9+ pound largemouth Saturday on the jig after my buddy had landed a 9 pounder on a spinnerbait earlier in the day.
ElDuke, are these spawn fish? Being up here in Salt Lake, I have no conception of spawn these days. We are still getting snow every week.
Pre spawn i believe. Here in the RTP it was 65 Saturday and suppose to be 70 today. My buddy caught another 5 lber yesterday...I went 0fer.

where would one find this bait? i googled jignpig and found nothing.
You can find jigs at any sporting goods department. Find a color similar to one that you use with your plastics and instead of using the old pork trailer use a Zoom plastic one.
ordered two from cabelas. can't wait to try them out.
My buddy has been whipping me of late with this Zoom Brushog
