Y'all outplayed, outhustled and outcoached us. Congrats.

I loved Vasquez's post game interview. I've wanted to reach into the TV and strangle him a bunch of times this year, but he finally listened to GW and played a great game today. He was almost funny as he described his previous out of control games. There may be some hope for this team after all! They really brightened up a cold, rainey day!

What you gonna give us in return?

MD didn't play this best team in the country today. If we had been, you wouldn't have won!
01-19-2008, 08:25 PM
^^^ Yep. I guess that today North Carolina played the best team in the country.

That second half was an absolutely amazing game by the Heels! Terps looked pretty comfortably in the lead at the half and then.....
Whammo! I do not need another game like that! My heart is far too old for such tension and excitement.
Tim, you and me both. I thought to myself "Ah, Vasquez has finally learned what the point is all about." Now if he'll just remember what he said for the rest of his career......

Congrats to the Terps. Now back to the Duke game. Go Bluedevils.

Our DirectTV went on the fritz so we were spared from seeing it. Congrats to the Terps on a great win. They outplayed us, and refused to be intimidated.

The game was a real scrap and I love the Terps win but I have to wonder at the decision to sent Hansbrough out for the final shot beyond the 3 point line. That isn't his shot at all, is it?

Congrats to the Terps. They aquitted themselves well, unlike another ACC team that will go unamed.
BTW, I thought it was pretty clear that the posession before the jump ball tie up should have gone to the Terps. Looked like it was last touched by Carolina. Didn't hurt Maryland though, I guess.

Holes lose, Devils win... snow on the ground... life is good...

The Duke/Carolina games this year will be interesting also! There is A LOT of young talent in the ACC right now!

It was a hard game for the whole 40 minutes. The Terps neutralized Hansbrough and out-hustled the Heels to get back on defense in the first half. I don't know if the Heels thought they'd won the game before it was played or not but MD came to play..... and they did. The second half was better for the Heels who almost pulled the game out but fell short against a Terp team determined to win.
The final out-of-bounds ball was off of a Heel as the replay clearly showed and the ball should have gone to the Terps but the Officials overall called a pretty good game IMO.
This is the kind of win that a very young Terps' team really needed to build their confidence. It was an emotional ride for sure and a great win for GW's team.

Congrats to the Terps. We play our worst game of the year (shooting) and they bring the intensity. Well done. Clemson hits their free throws and dook loses another one. (where have I heard about Clemson's ft shooting problems before?)

Teams can expect to get pretty bad shooting against the Terps--aren't they the best in the ACC re: opponents FG%? They're a young team and this confidence booster might just make them a scary team for the rest of the ACC.

The Heels ACC games, save one painful one we needn't discuss, have been extremely entertaining this year.

Honestly, with all due respect to the Terps I tend to think that these kinds of losses (early in the ACC season, far from NCAA seeding) do teams like Carolina good in the long run. They learned that they're vulnerable to mediocre teams, and they'll play accordingly from here on out. They may have gotten away with one against GT, and they got bit against MD.
I think it will focus them in the long run.
In other positive news, the Pack actually beat a decent ACC team! After the UNC and Clemson games I was wondering when we'd realistically get our first ACC win.

Well according to the polls the Heels were the best. Clearly after losing to the Terps on the UNC home court, they are certainly not considered the best team in the country now.
Still UNC is one of the very best BB teams in the Nation, and I would like to think that we beat the best team in the Country which failed to play like one on Saturday.
