Looks like Roy's going to pull the starters with a 33 pt lead and less than 4 minutes to go...

I couldn't see it, stuck at work and regulated to just watching the score on ESPN's website.
Pretty depressing; I was hoping for the upset via the power of the red jacket.

Not that my opinion means squadoosh over here, but the starters were in way too long. Especially in light of Ginyard's tweaked ankle.

Well, Bilas made the point that if YOU have your starters in, WE should have, too.
I don't ever want to hear anybody come over here and say "Nanny-nanny-boo-boo, you guys ran up the score," ever again.

That whole "running up the score" thing is the province of losers. Period.

Both.
will go undefeated this year. And with the recruits they're bringing in, probably will continue to do so for the next 5-6 years.

Running up the score is a sign of respect and of rivalry.
Calling off the dogs early is a sign of contempt.
Running up the score and "rubbing it in" are not the same thing; though one can be involved with the other. It's a matter of attitude. Taunting and preening are "rubbing it in"; having your team continue to work hard on things and do their best even after the game has been decided is not.
If there was anything about the State game that could in the least be construed as "rubbing it in", it was the fact that we basically coasted the entire second half, knowing State had given up any hope of winning long before the first half ended.

Good points, jws. I thought it was pretty obvious that UNC had lifted off the accelerator in the 2nd half, although State finally started to shoot a little better (stopped missing layups). Every time State cut the lead back to 25-26, UNC would immediately turn up the pressure and put it back to 31-33. I didn't think that was rubbing it in, just avoiding the type of blowout that comes back to haunt you someday down the road.

the only club resembling a ranked team UNC has played, Clemson, was a tap-in away from beating them in regulation and 5 seconds of a little defense in OT, and then Charlotte beat Clemson
this game was all Lowe

I don't think you have any place to talk about our schedule, SS.
01-13-2008, 10:17 PM
the point wasn't to talk about your schedule. the point was nobody really knows where carolina stands among the top 5-10 teams because you've only played one top 20 team, and they played you even
blowing out a team that can't keep the likes of 6-8 ECU off the boards is no indication
it was a response to a question:

But you brought up the schedule as part of your argument, and its fair game to question that. Do I know where we stand in terms of the top 5? no, none of us do - and frankly it's not UNC's fault that the teams in the ACC (outside of Duke and maybe Miami) are top flight teams and that their schedule didn't pan out as planned. But it was still a solid schedule.

The concern for UNC fans might be whether they'll get good preparation for the NCAA's outside of Duke. Even then, Duke looks solid but is sort of unusual with the lack of size inside this year. The Clemson game might look good in retrospect, but the jury is out on them (isn't it always?).

I'm kind of disappointed in the ACC right now. Even though we took the Big Ten to the woodshed, our league has had some really crappy losses in comparison to previous years. State just looks like an awful team. I don't know how they won the good games that they did (Seton Hall, Villanova) but it was easy to see how they lost to ECU and struggled with Prarie View. State has PG and chemistry issues..big time.

preparation and evaluation, for both polls and their own coaches; they'll go in a number one seed unless they surrender it, which will put off any top competiton until possibly the SS but most likely the EE
I wouldn't say the jury is out on Clemson. they played their best against carolina and maybe hit some shots they won't every night, but they got game. great guard play, very tough inside play, speed and solid coaching, the failure to cover a guy who had already torched them for 33 with 5 seconds left notwithstanding. Clemson was representative of at least the style of the top 5 teams if not the talent level. I think they actually outran carolina

One thing had nothing to do with the other.
I didn't like that comment either, but it was because there was no need to defend Henderson.
Henderson did nothing more than commit a unintentional foul, it was an unfortunate incident, but no real fault of G's.

Does it bother you when Roy makes constant references about Duke?
