Opening weekend duck came in today. We had a great hunt. There was 3 of us there and we all limited out. We had a nice variety. I was very happy with the performance of the new SBE2 as I shot my 5 birds with 7 shots.

7 Blue Wing Teal
3 Gadwall
1 Pintail
4 Greenheads

This was the best mallard hunt by far I have ever had. We don't get a whole lot of them in West Tx, so the 4 today was a big deal.

do you guys eat the duck after you've shot it? not passing judgement, just wondering.

if so, how does it taste? i've never even had restaurant duck.

I give them away if I can find somebody. Not a big fan of duck. I do know that reddrum takes his to the local Chinese restaraunt and they do a pretty damn good job of making crispy duck.

I guess I get spoiled shooting greenheads as they are by far the most plentiful duck I see, but for a true duck hunter, there isn't anything much better than a flock of red legs dropping in the decoys.

Our local waterfowl season opens up in about 3 weeks, but with the drought we're having here in NC, hunting prospects are pretty bad around here. Glad you guys are finding some birds. I'll be back in KS where these were taken in a month or so with a report to follow. The Smackdown Waterfowling crew is getting ready to hit the road!
