The main point is that the Cubs did not score and that had nothing to do with Zambrano taking his shower.
you know I'm an old school pinella fan. he grew up in west tampa(fn2) and he positively reeks of the Old School. i love me a good Pinella umpire tirade. plus a friend of mine once plunked him good and solid while they were both playing single A ball down here.
i had exactly the same response to this furor ^ as you did. if you have a pen, and it has done well over time, you have to use it. as the national treasure Katherine Harris (ex-R-Fla) recently opined in plaintive voice, "hindsight is fifty/fifty." just so, Katherine!
i guess the retort is that at the time carlos only had 85 pitches under his belt or thereabouts so there was no immediate need for relief but i don't care. i think this was just whiney cubs fans going nuts again, objectively
