I rarely post in sports threads and I try to as an admin to remain neutral. But, I am a lifelong Wake fan as my parents, sister, and a couple of cousins attended Wake. I cut my ACC teeth watching the Charlie Davis and Gil McGregor teams and years of bad football teams.
The last time the death of a sports figure actually affected me was the death of Dale Earnhardt. I wasn't a big racing fan but I enjoyed watching him race and at the time, wondered how NASCAR could recover. I knew Skip was a good coach and mentor, but I never knew imagined the breadth of people he had affected. I am not trying to equate the enormity of Earnhardt's death with Skip's here. Just that for now, it is obvious that there are some very big shoes to fill and it will take some time to recover. Proud to be an ACC fan and even prouder to be a Wake fan. RIP Skip.
