was wondering if any of our regulars had stopped to consider the pursuits of the Morganton Aggies et al. even had em an all star game at Knights Castle a couple weeks ago, it seems. i believe the season has concluded by now

I haven't been down there, but have followed the Davidson Copperheads as one of our LSU players is on their roster (C Kevin Farnsworth).

Prof, you could relate to this. I've taken the whole family, including daughters, to some Bethesda Big Train games at Shirley Povich field nearby in Cal Ripken SR. Collegiate League. As you reported many years back, perfect facility except no beer.

One of the twins has even developed a fairly keen eye (at least by 9 year old standards) for the game, and a hint of dry wit about it as well. Your post about your trip to the park with your daughter resonated in that regard.

Last time we went to the Big Train (with wife out of town on a business trip), we got free tickets in the parking lot when we encountered a friend from one of the night's sponsors, my son won the trivia contest (free bbq), and we won two prizes in the raffle (including a team autographed bat) and the kids got to stay up late and have ice cream. Dad was the hero of the day at home. But I didn't win the powerball.
ah povich field. a gem, an absolute shimmering jewel of a location. troubled only by beerlessness.

i find that my heroism in these kind of surroundings depends entirely upon how quickly the cotton candy is located and purchased. good to hear that one of the daughters is showing baseball geek promise. perhaps she'll show up on ACCBoards.com some day and correct me in my badly bungled stat citations. you know, give spike here a rest and all

mr. farnsworth is a welcome addition to any team. although his hat size might pose a problem to the trainer, potentially
