I watched part of the USA-Japan baseball game last night. It was in the DBAP, home of the Durham Bulls.
Between one of the innings Wool E Bull drove out on the field in his racecar. A common, everyday occurrence I thought, but apparently the Japanese players had never seen such a thing as they all came out of the dugout to watch Wool E.
They seemed fascinated by a Bull driving a racecar around a baseball field throwing baseball into the crowd. The US players paid little attention to Wool E.
I know Japanese baseball has cheerleaders and chants, but I can’t believe that they don’t have Bulls in racecars.

our inscrutable(fn1) eastern friends have great human dignity, unlike us. no big sausages running laps, no people scrambling absurdly and trampling children to get the tee shirt with the local insurance agent's name on it that is lobbed to the crowd by a large purple shag rug covered creature. no Rock N Roll Part II &c. i think their ball game watching experience consists mostly of mere yelling in concert for 4 hours or so. imagine!

cultural footnotes
1. why does "inscrutable" always precede "eastern friends"? it must be in some book of style somewhere
I can only imagine what precedes western friends in eastern usage.
prodigious snot producing?
it appears a bull in a race car might be pretty tame by their standards.
Love the baseball
Quote:I can only imagine what precedes western friends in eastern usage.
I have heard it. It's "hairy."
further cultural endnote: those are some ghastly cheerleaders, bro.
