Tonight, Lugo was thrown out attempting to steal 3rd making the 3rd out. A .300 plus hitter was attempting to drive him in.
I only saw this on a gametracker.
My question to anyone who actually saw it is: did he go on his own violating the 'never make the third out at third' rule?

I wondered if Francona scratched his jock itch and Lugo thought he saw the sign to steal third.
The next day Terry said that it was a case of a player trying to do too much. What a diplomatic way to say the dumbass took off for third, running us out of the inning without considering that even if he makes it, he is not a hero. He still would have to be driven in barring a passed ball or wild pitch.
