..anyone else going to be down that way?

We're actually staying in a house near the Town of Sea Level, but will likely spend our time fishing up near Cedar Island and the west side of the Core Banks. Has anyone fished that area this summer, and if so, how was the fishing? We'll likely spend most of our time fishing for trout, flounder, reds, and I might get a few shrimp and let little Pot Hole catch us some croaker. We'll be fishing through Saturday, and maybe I'll have some pics to post up when we get back.

Well, how'd it go. I didn't see the post until you had already left. From what I've heard the fishing has been pretty great this year all up and down the coast.

In a nutshell, we caught lots of fish, but the vast majority were to small to keep. Lots of flounder in the 10 - 11 inch category, some reds (we did keep a few of them!), several bait stealing spots, a couple of sharks (which little pot hole wanted to keep), an eel (first time for that), and we hung a couple of nice fish that we never saw as they got off before reaching the boat. The weather was bearable, but the skeeters threatened to carry us off. Them varmits would even follow you into your vehicle and attack you! A local told us that the bite had slowed down considerably in that area once the really hot weather arrived. Hopefully, we can make a return trip early fall and try them again.
