Heading down to Ocean Isle on Saturday for a week and taking my 14' duck boat. Want to get some time on the water with the family (2 year old has never been out) and do some fishing also. If anyone can provide info on the following I'd appreciate it:

- where to launch
- where to take a small boat just to cruise around
- flounder gigging spots/tips (never tried it)
- any Inlets down there good for a small boat on a calm day?

Thanks.
Don't know too much about Ocean Isle. At Emerald Isle things were kind of quiet although some flounder were being caught. Get some live mullet minnows or catch you own mudd minnows and fish them on a Carolina rig. works for my dad and me. Good luck
Thanks. Good to see you still have that tag under your name. That story about your kid was hilarious.

Found out that there is a wildlife ramp next to OI Fishing Center so we'll probably launch there.

Got my 2 year old her life jacket yesterday, complete with the head prop. To borrow an expression from "A Christmas Story", she looks like a tick about to pop.
Thanks TD.. my little one turned 7 yesterday. She and her big sister are both keepers Smile Expect to hear just about anything from that little tick of yours in the coming months. Make sure you take one of those disposable 35mm cameras with you. I've taken many a picture when taking my girls fishing with me. Some unforgettable memories arise when I look some of those photos over.
Struck out at OIB. Tried Tubbs Inlet one day and it was too rough to get out. Made a few passes with clark spoons but no strikes. Didn't see any birds working either. There were a few boats there but no one got out of the inlet. Bottom fished a few tide rips but no strikes. Only saw one boat pull in a small flounder all day.

Have to admit it was fun getting into those choppy seas in a little 15' duck boat!
