Got the sweet hole lined up inside the hook of the cape. We're gonna fish 5 days the end of May and 5 the first week in June. I'll holler atcha and see if you can make it. A 66 and a 79lb'er there last year. Bardens Inlet baby.
Interesting side note to this thread. The Salt Lake City Tribune is touting cobia as the next "in" fish. They are saying it is a mild tasting farm raised fish.
Now I have seen a start-up cobia fish farm on the Discovery Channel, but did not realize that it has come full circle.
I hope that they do not do to cobia what they did to the redfish population some years back
SHOW, I'll be down June 6th through the 10th and then again on the 25th through July 1st. Hope to see you then! Love me some cobia.
DenverPacker. I sat and watched as a friend caught a 92 pounder year before last. There was nothing "Farm Raised" about that big gal. After threatening bodily harm to two boatloads of dingbatters to pull up their anchor ropes and getting everyone in the area to cooperate, he finally got her to the boat. He fought her so long even the coast guard buoy tender boat pulled up to watch. Cobia is getting big down here around Cape Lookout, May and June is awesome. They are coming in off the wrecks right now to spawn. Every 18 - 20 foot deep hole in the sound behind Shackleford banks holds a fight of a lifetime. But don't come unless you are highly endowed with patience. It can be a long wait between hookups. If anyone here does like Cobia Fishing the annual EJW Outdoors Cobia Tournament is a blast! Little David Willis runs a great tourney and you'll meet lots of great folks.

Showman--that was one big ass cobia!
Don't get me wrong. I have caught my share of cobia. That was why I was so suprised at the TV show/newspaper article about farming them. Always been kinda of a mystery fish to me. We were always thrilled to hook up. I just do not want to see them showing up on menu's as that can be a killer move for some species.
Please post pictures of y'all's trip. Just make sure there is no UNC gear visible.

Denver, there is one thing you can count on in this life, there will be no unc gear on any fishing trip I'm on. As for the EJW info, Lil' Dave (David Willis the owner) is a long time friend of mine. He taught me alot about Cobia. He is a natural born genius at catching them. Any of you come down to the Crystal Coast stop in at his shop, he's a good fella and he's a true sportsman. The only thing I caught this week was a bunch of those delicious lil round fellas called clams. They turned themselves in to me and were transformed in to "Clams Casino". For those of you who aren't informed I'll help you out.
Rake up some fresh clams, keep them small, no chowder clams. Take them home and drop them in a sink full of hot water. They'll start to open a bit in a few minutes, pick them up gently and slide a knife in, cut them open, clean them a bit then lay them back in half the shell, throw the other half away. Do this until you have a giant cookie sheet full of clams on the halfshell. THEN, add 3 drops of texas pete to each clam. Then sprinkle some grated cheddar cheese over the top of each clam completely covering each one. Cut some 2 inch squares of bacon. Lay one square of bacon over each clam right on top of the cheese. Slide that sheet right into the oven on broil. As soon as that cheese is melted realllll good take those bad boys out. Let them cool for a minute. Go to the refrigerator, pull out one cold beer. NOW. Pick one of those babies up, rake your top teeth over the top of him and pull the whole clam right into your mouth. Warning: They taste so damn good you'll be making another sheet of them in 5 minutes. I know it sounds kinda basic, but brotha, they will curl yer toes!

^ You guys better try those! ^
Did that first week of June SHOW. Coming back next week. Making a little trip to the outer banks and then swinging down to Emerald Isle on Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon.
