Something I thought I would never hear in my life was said last night and is certainly a sign of the Apocalypse.

Zoubek is turning out to be a damn good player!

He seems to have come into his own. Playing well.

It's been two games, if he does it for 3 in a row, then maybe I'll consider it a pattern. whatever the case, i think he's done a terrific job for us lately.

He's billed as a 7ft space eater with 5 fouls to give. I'm not saying he's the next coming of Carlos Boozer. Still, he has a role, he fills it well. He's an offense rebounding machine, he usually starts all plays by the guards with a high pick and any points he scores is just icing on the cake.

Although, he should be in double digits PPG with all the garbage points. The knock on him is he can't finish.

We're going to have to nickname Zoubek "The Worm" after these rebounding explosions of the past few games. He could easily be at a double double average in points and rebounds. He's figured out the hardest part - rebounding. Now he just needs to add picking up the garbage points off of missed shots to his game.

Zoubek has had injuries for his first three seasons. That can slow your progress, just ask Tyler Zeller.

Speaking of which, and smack talk....

Next time you call Coach K a rat, think if your boy Zeller.

Also got Boozer, Battier and Williams in that mix. Those are some pretty damn good players. Some coaches don't have careers that will ever see the likes of even one of those types of guys. Sure, claim they are McDs AA, but we all know of some AAs that have been complete busts in college. Coaching speaks a lot to their success.

K, like Dean, has coached a variety of succesful big men of all styles, from post up power guys like Zoubek, Boozer and The Landlord, to outside shooting centers like Laettner and Alarie. Dean's post players probably had better post-up footwork than K's but then K has always played a different type of offense with less emphasis on the post. It looks like he's on a prety good run of recruting big guys right now. There's a third Plumlee coming along.

I hope Zoubs can keep it going, he really makes Duke a better team when he plays like he's playing. I hope this will also inspire the Plumlees.

That would be a funny image. Z with rainbow colored hair and ink like Jesse James. It'd be funnier if he was dating that tattooed freak James was banging while Sandra was accepting the Best Actress Oscar.

We really have to wonder how much the injuries have hindered Zoubs over his career here. He's was never going to be an offensive minded type of player, but now that he's healthy we have seen him reach some of the potential he may have been capable of all along.

well, Duke goes 6-8, 6-8 and 7-1, backed up by 6-10 and 6-10 and has been bludgeoning their opponents on the boards. of course these same guys said Duke wasn't athletic enough, not to mention not deep enough, at the beginning of the year.
