Thread worthy?
Congrats!
Pass the banana puddin'!

I figured they won. I was at the State win (woot) and they never announced the score; that usually means UNC is up.
You all may not have heard, but we did it without Marcus Ginyard.

Can't cut nets down for it.

BEAT dook!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Big deal... you want to hear some real news. GT beat Miami by 10 points 78-68
Congratulations and I hope you represent the ACC well by going to the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament... but I want the Terps to win it ALL! Biggrin Icon12

No, but we can hang another banner, right next to our undisputed official 1924 National Championship banner!

Biggrin
Unless we beat dook we tie and a tie with dook is not banner worthy or even worth bragging about. So, until Sunday night, we aren't champions of anything.
All those talented big men. If the Terps had just one of them........

Next we'll be starting threads stating that the sun has risen.
Not since the format has changed. Winning the regular season in a round-robin format was impressive. Now it's largely meaningless, IMO.
^ I don't mind saying how ridiculous that is. And, if you truly believe it you must also believe that the ACC and NCAA tournaments are even more ridiculous. Because, what you are implying is that unless all teams play each other then there is no way of knowing who is best. In a tournament, each team will take a completely different path to reach the final game so in no way shape or form does it indicate that the paths to the top are equal. So, even though they no longer play every other team 2X, it (the regular season results) is still much more indicative of how good the teams are than anything else out there.
While the unbalanced schedule certainly detracts from it's fairness and could, in certain years, detract greatly from it, there's simply no question that the regular season is a far, far better barometer of how good a team is than a three game tournament.
You guys have a good team there in Chapel Hill, congratulations.

that's what i'm saying. notice not a dookie has touched this thread. good reason(s) for that.

As do you all ...
there is no tie. If Duke wins and Wake wins this weekend, then Duke is the champ by virtue of the records against Wake.

There is a tie. All teams that finish with identical (best) records are considered co-champions. The tiebreakers are only used for tournament seeding.

thanks. I am so proud of Dino and the team. They have been through a lot together and have had a terrific year. They exceeded my expectations, and are gaining back their early-season momentum at just the right time.

yes that is what I was thinking.

You can make up any "award" you want and hang a banner in your gym over it if you want. It doesn't really bother me. Regular season champs meant something to me when the schedule meant playing against every team in the conference in their home gym. It was special then. Seeding is all it means to me now.

I don't disagree that winning more games over the course of a season demonstrates how good a team is but, in the end -- who cares? It's a consolation prize for teams that fail to win the conference tourney or the big dance.
